Frequency Distributions
A frequency distribution describes data that has been observed; it is empirical. (Later, probability distributions will be discussed which describe data that might be observed and is hypothetical.)
Frequency distributions can be grouped or ungrouped.

Frequency distributions are effective for organizing and for interpretation but information is lost in frequency distributions.
Graphs
Some graphs include bar graphs, pie charts, histograms, frequency polygons, cumulative polygons, and stem and leaf displays.
Shapes of distributions include bell-shaped, negatively skewed, positively skewed, bimodal, J shaped, U shaped, and rectangular.
